This summer, something big is coming to Tupper Lake
Six giant troll sculptures created by internationally acclaimed artist Thomas Dambo will arrive at The Wild Center, adding to the magic of this unique environmental education center. Running June 1 through October 31, 2026, this new exhibit is set to become one of the Adirondacks' must-see attractions.

What Are Thomas Dambo's Trolls?
Thomas Dambo is known around the world for creating gigantic wooden troll sculptures made from reclaimed and recycled materials. Inspired by folklore and nature, each troll has its own personality and message about creativity, sustainability, and caring for the planet.
With names like "Basse Buller - The Painting Troll", "Ibbi Pip – The Birdhouse Troll", "Kamma Can – The Treasure Troll," "Ronja Redeye – The Speaker Troll," "Rosa Sunfinger – The Botanical Troll," and "Sofus Lotus – The Listening Troll," each brings its own story to the Adirondacks. Together, these whimsical figures are part of a larger message to help humans reconnect with nature and encourage us to be better keepers of the earth.

Where to find them
Visitors will discover six trolls hidden throughout The Wild Center's trails, forests, and outdoor spaces. The experience is part art, part nature walk, and part scavenger hunt, the perfect activity for explorers of all ages.
The Wild Center makes nature accessible and welcoming for all visitors. Many of its most popular experiences, including the Wild Walk, features ADA accessible routes. The center also provides services such as complimentary wheelchairs, walkers, and other equipment upon request. Accessible parking, restrooms, and intentional design throughout the campus make sure that all guests can explore.
The Wild Center will offer expanded summer hours, open daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. with extended hours until 7 p.m. in July and August. Your visit to see the TROLLS is included in the cost of your general admissions ticket to The Wild Center. Purchasing your ticket online guarantees you won’t miss out on the fun!

Where to Stay: Turn your Troll adventure into a full Adirondack getaway with a range of lodging options throughout Tupper Lake. Choose from classic hotels, comfortable motels, rustic cabins, and locally owned stays that put you close to everything the area has to offer.
For a cozy cabin feel, look to spots like Northwood Cabins or Faust Motel for that woodsy Adirondack stay. If you prefer a more traditional hotel or roadside stay, options like Trailhead and Sunset Park Motel offer convenient access to town and attractions.

What to be closer to nature? Camping is always a great option! Pitch a tent at Little Wolf Beach Campground, where you’ll find lakeside sites, swimming, and beach access.

Bonus: Adirondack Troll Adventure: Continue the fun of The Wild Center with the Adirondack Troll Adventure, an interactive digital scavenger hunt. Inspired by the Thomas Dambo exhibit, smaller trolls will be hidden at participating businesses throughout the region, turning local shops, restaurants, and attractions into Troll Stops.
You can follow a digital passport map, check in the stops, and explore more of the community while discovering hidden trolls along the way. By completing at least six Troll Stops you can unlock an unique TROLLS: Save the Humans reward!
While we will eventually have to say goodbye to the traveling trolls, The Wild Center has an opportunity to welcome its very own (first-ever in New York) wild troll!

Plan your Tupper Lake Troll Trip where you can discover giant trolls, the Adirondack wilderness, and small town charm. Tupper Lake is easily the most magical destination of the season.
