After a day in the snow

Tupper Lake is an outdoor adventurers' paradise, especially during the winter season. From ice fishing to cross-country skiing, snowmobiling to snowshoeing, there is no shortage of fun winter adventures in Tupper Lake.

Even better than all those amazing adventures are the relaxed, cozy places we have in town to warm up after you're done playing in the fresh snow! Whether you're into cocktails, craft beer, delicious food, or local shops, there is somewhere to get warm after your adventures in the great outdoors. Enjoy exploring a few of our special favorites this winter.

Sit beside the fire at Raquette River Brewing

The warm fire at Raquette River Brewing

At one end of Tupper's favorite beer hall sits a beautiful stone fireplace surrounded by wooden Adirondack chairs just calling your name. You will be warmed through while sipping on one of owner Mark Jessie's 17 (yes, you read that right!) handcrafted beers on tap. The beers on tap change throughout the season, but in the winter time you will be lucky enough to try a delicious seasonal porter that should not be missed.

Not into craft beer? No problem! You can still warm up with a great drink by the fire. Enjoy a glass of wine, a hard cider, or choose from a wide range of mixed drinks. Top it all off with a wood fired pizza from Fusion Street Food and they will have to pry you out of the Adirondack chairs by that roaring fire!

Hit two local shops for homemade hats and/or mittens!

Before (or after) you head out on your winter adventure, stop into Spruce & Hemlock or Cabin Fever to make sure you have the proper (and stylish) hand-knit hats or mittens, or both! Most are made locally with the softest, warmest materials. While you are in the shops you may just find more treasures for yourself! Both stores offer an array of items, including jewelry and Adirondack-inspired home decor, that will warm your heart.

Bonus: if you go to Spruce & Hemlock, don't miss out on their fresh baked goods as well!

Order an Espresso Martini at Little Italy

Serving up one of the best espresso martinis in all of the Adirondacks is Little Italy. Grab a seat at their beautiful bar, relax, and enjoy. Pair your martini with a delicious bruschetta, their famous homemade garlic knots, or a bowl of pasta with a homemade sauce and you will be ready to rest your head for the evening after a full day. Or pair dinner with their drink specials that change throughout the season, they are always a hit! With a mouth-watering, warming menu like this, you'll have a hard time deciding what to have!

Make a reservation at Amado and try the famous Pot Pie Floater

The ultimate comfort food is the pot pie, but Chef Cory Rohrbach's Pot Pie Floater at Amado takes it to the next level. A warm your body and your heart kind of next level. Choose from chicken, veggie, beef, seafood, lamb, or lobster as a filling, and dive into the decadent cream sauce the covers the pot pie. It’s hard to explain the creamy deliciousness of this meal, you simply have to try it to believe me!

Once you have warmed up from your adventurous day discovering the outdoors, find a cozy place to rest your head and do it all again tomorrow. Plan your winter getaway to Tupper Lake today!
