For Tupper Lake

As the mountains cover with snow and the lakes and ponds begin to freeze over, excitement starts to build for winter activities and events. Throughout the year, Tupper Lake supports a robust events calendar and winter is no different! From ice fishing and hockey tournaments, to flames over snow and beer on skis - there is surely something for everyone this time of year! Holiday Festivities! 

December is a magical time to be in Tupper Lake, NY. The lights have been strung, snow is falling, and Santa and his elves are often seen spreading cheer through our quaint Adirondack town. Here are a couple of the events lined up for this holiday season…

The Annual Tree Lighting

DECEMBER 6, 2014 - Once again, carolers, community members, and visitors will join together at the Chad Martin Memorial Park for the annual Christmas Tree Lighting. The 2014 tree lighting will take place on Saturday, December 6th at 5:30 pm. Following the ceremony, warm up with complimentary hot cocoa at Little Italy on Park Street in Tupper Lake.

The Big Tupper Snowball 

DECEMBER 13, 2014 - Join friends and family for a magical evening at Big Tupper Ski Area during the annual Snowball Gala on Saturday, December 13th, 2014. 

Dubbed as the “permier event of the holiday season,” the annual Snowball transforms the ski lodge at Big Tupper into an elegant winter wonderland. Enjoy an evening with festive company as you mingle over great food & drinks and dance the night away to live music and a festive atmosphere. All proceeds from the Snowball go to support the operation of Big Tupper (as a not-for-profit) for the 2014-15 ski season. 

New Event to Kick off the New Year!

The Phil Edwards Memorial Hockey Tournament

JANUARY 9-11, 2015 - January in Tupper Lake will start off with some fast action hockey during the much anticipated 1st Annual Phil Edwards Memorial Hockey Tournament. Men's teams from around the region will hit the ice at the Tupper Lake Memorial Civic Center for three straight days of play starting on January 9th, 2015. Deadline to sign up your team for the tournament is December 19th, 2014.

February Fun!

February is a great month to visit Tupper Lake... the events calendar is packed, the snow on the trails is plentiful, and our frozen lakes and ponds turn into miniature ice fishing villages!

The Northern Challenge Ice Fishing Derby

FEBRUARY 7, 2015 - The first Saturday in February is BIG in Tupper Lake - big money, big prizes, big crowd, and most importantly, BIG FISH! 

On Saturday, February 7th, 2015, the annual Northern Challenge Ice Fishing Derby will once again commence on Simon Pond. Hosted by the Tupper Lake Rod & Gun Club, this tournament has become a “must fish” for anglers around the Northeast & Canada. Every year, nearly a thousand registrants flock to Tupper Lake to compete for over $6,500 in cash & prizes. Whether you are fishing or are a spectator, the Northern Challenge Ice Fishing Derby is worth coming to just to simply experience what it is like to be in a village on ice!

Fire & Ice Festival

FEBRUARY 21-22, 2015 - The weekend of February 21st & 22nd is guaranteed to be a festive one, as Tupper Lake welcomes the new Fire & Ice Festival. Enjoy a weekend of sleigh rides & dogsled rides, fireworks & fire dancers, live music & artwork to music, and snow sculptures & bonfires! But that is just the start of this event which will encompass the whole Town of Tupper Lake. Some of the keystone events scheduled for the weekend include a snowmobile hill climb at Big Tupper Ski Area and the fan favorite Fire & Ice Golf Tournament at the Tupper Lake Municipal Park. If you are looking for the perfect weekend to experience all the fun there is to be had in during an Adirondack winter, the Fire & Ice Festival is the time to come!

March Into More Events...

As the saying goes... "in like a lion, out like a lamb!" Well in Tupper Lake, March's "lion" is the Brew-Ski!

The Brew-Ski!

March 7, 2015 - The second annual Tupper Lake Brew-Ski Trail will definitely quench your thirst for events! The one-mile brew-fest is scheduled for Saturday, March 7th, 2015 at the Tupper Lake Groomed Cross Country Ski Center. Hosted by the Tupper Lake Chamber of Commerce, The Brew-Ski invites xc-skiers and snowshoers to sample a variety of local and regional craft brews at different stations set up all around the "Golf Course Loop" of the center's groomed trail network. Enjoy an afternoon of camaraderie built around cold beer and warm fire pits, as you meet fellow beer lovers and chat with the brewers.
