NASA Earth to Sky: Sharing Our Adirondack Climate Story

March 5–6, 2026
Thursday, 8:30 AM – Friday, 5:30 PM (ET)

Hosted by: The Wild Center’s Climate Program

NASA’s Earth to Sky program is coming to the Adirondacks for a free, in-person, workshop-style course focused on understanding climate change in our region and learning how to communicate those impacts effectively to the public.

This two-day course will take place on March 5 at The Wild Center and Adirondack Sky Center in Tupper Lake, and on March 6 at the Paul Smith’s College VIC. Participants will also attend a required virtual webinar on February 25 from 3:00–5:30 PM.

The program provides a foundation in Adirondack climate science, connecting global climate trends to local impacts. Participants will work directly with scientists and expert communicators, learn best practices for climate communication, and join interactive sessions on topics such as disappearing winters, boreal habitats, and community-based climate engagement.

Highlights include:

  • Presentations from leading global and Adirondack climate scientists

  • Training in effective climate communication strategies

  • Field experiences and interactive learning sessions

  • Networking with regional educators, interpreters, and communicators

  • “Science on Tap” at Raquette River Brewing and a telescope after-party at the Adirondack Sky Center and Observatory

The course is hosted through a regional collaboration including The Wild Center, Paul Smith’s College, Adirondack Explorer, Adirondack Sky Center & Observatory, Adirondack Council, Adirondack Research Consortium, and Adirondack Climate Outreach and Resilience Network.

Who Should Apply:
This course is designed for Adirondack-based organizations, agencies, educators, interpreters, and businesses interested in strengthening climate communication skills. Individuals or teams (up to three per organization) are welcome. Space is limited, and participation is by application.

Cost: Free to attend. Light breakfast, coffee, and lunch are provided. Participants are responsible for dinner, travel, and lodging.

How to Apply:
Applicants must be available for both in-person days (March 5–6) and the virtual webinar on February 25. Applications must be submitted by February 6, 2026.
