From Students to Scientists: The Next Generation of Radio Astronomy
Presenter: Masha Kilibarda

March 3, 2026 | 7:00 PM

Galaxies with sweeping spiral arms are among the most recognizable sights in the night sky, including our own Milky Way. Yet despite decades of research, how these spiral structures form and persist remains an open question in astronomy.

In this talk, Masha Kilibarda, a senior Astrophysics major at Haverford College, will share her personal journey into astronomy and present her research on spiral galaxy formation. The presentation will explore leading theories behind spiral structures and examine how astronomers test these ideas using observational data and a variety of radio astronomy techniques.

This program highlights emerging scientists and the exciting research shaping the future of astronomy.
