Ride the eclipse bus for ease of travel!

On Monday, April 8, 2024, The Tupper Lake Central School District is making it easy to enjoy the total solar eclipse and make the most of your day in Tupper Lake. To help everyone safely view the eclipse and travel stress-free, large parking areas will be available, and free buses will service those lots, getting you directly to your viewing location!

The following is parking and bus information for Monday, April 8, 2024. If you plan to attend events over the weekend of April 6-7, parking will be available at attractions.

Parking areas

Each bus line will have four locations for parking. We recommend either printing out the maps linked below or taking a screenshot of them for use on eclipse day. This is particularly useful in the event of busy cell phone towers and low signal strength, which can occur on such a busy and exciting day.

  • The Green Bus, will service the "Junction" area traveling West on NYS Route 3 with stops at the following parking areas:
    • LOT A: Washington Street (Adirondack Rail Trail parking)
    • LOT B: Washington Street (Playground)
    • LOT C: Tupper Lake Municipal Park (Near Grandstands)
    • LOT D: Flander's Park (Bus stop at Tupper Lake Public Library)
  • The Blue Bus, will service the "Moody" area traveling South on NYS Route 30 with stops at the following parking areas:
    • LOT E: Tupper Lake Middle High School Bus Garage

    • LOT H: Tupper Lake Golf Club

NOTE: Parking in the Hosley Avenue area for the events hosted by Adirondack Sky Center & Observatory as well as The Wild Center will be extremely limited on Monday, April 8, 2024. Please plan accordingly and use one of the above-listed parking areas.

A notice from the Tupper Lake Police Department:

The Eclipse has drawn an extreme influx of people to this area. Due to this we we're unable to use our regular procedures to identify owners of vehicles that were illegally parked or parked in a way that obstructs the flow of traffic. Your vehicle may have been towed.

One of the following tow companies would have been used to tow your vehicle. Please contact them to obtain your vehicle. Be sure to advise them of the year, make, model, color, and license plate if known.
