The 2025 Empire State Winter Games

The 2025 Empire State Winter Games is a multi-day sports event held in the Adirondack Park, New York, from January 30 to February 2, 2025. The Games will unite athletes from across New York State and beyond to compete in over 24 winter sports events. This is the largest Olympic-style winter sporting event in the Northeast.

Tupper Lake Welcomes Sled Hockey 

The Tupper Lake Memorial Civic Center is gearing up to once again welcome Sled Hockey Athletes from around the northeast to compete in fast-paced action on January 31st and February 1st. 

About Adaptive Sled Hockey

Sled hockey follows most typical ice hockey rules, with the exception of the equipment. Players sit in specially designed sleds that sit on top of two hockey skate blades. There are two sticks for each player instead of one and the sticks have metal pics on the butt end for players to propel themselves. Goalies make modifications to their gloves - metal picks are sewn into the backside to allow the goalie to maneuver.

In addition to Sled Hockey, Tupper Lake will host the Winter Triathlon and Winter Bike on Saturday, February 8, 2025.
