Discover our craft beer scene!

Submitted by Guest Blogger: Eileen Mowrey

Surrounded by sparkling lakes and picturesque mountains, you may be surprised to find a burgeoning craft beer scene in Tupper Lake. While the area is well-known for its natural beauty and small-town charm, it’s quickly gaining a reputation for excellent local beer as well.

Raquette River Brewing is heading the charge, producing a wide variety of craft brews served onsite and on taps throughout the Adirondacks. From experienced beer fans to the casual consumer, there’s a brew for every palate and preference. Whether you’re in town to explore the great outdoors, or just looking to relax and unwind, make some time to experience the brew-ty of the Adirondacks!

Raquette River Brewing

This small batch brewery has gained wide-spread popularity in recent years, and for good reason! Their creatively crafted beers are featured on taps throughout the Adirondacks and beyond the Blue Line.

Their success has led to sizable growth in both their brewing operation and their onsite experience. In addition to their small tasting room, Raquette River Brewing has constructed a year-round event space featuring a 40-foot long bar, custom-built fireplace and chandeliers, and a huge patio for those beautiful ADK days. Food trucks replace a traditional kitchen and add to the already hip ambiance.

Try a flight, grab a pint, or fill up a growler to take home. With live music every weekend in the summer, this may become your new favorite hangout.

Tap tested, taste approved:

Double IPA: With a smooth finish, this Double IPA is less aggressive than most, but still recommended for more experienced IPA drinkers.

India Pale Ale: The perfect introduction to hoppier beers, this selection is light and a little smoky.

Pale Ale: This crisp ale is perfect for slow sipping and would also preserve well in a growler.

Mango Wheat: Not as sweet as you would think, this is the beer of the summer. Fresh and satisfying.

In addition to its local brewery, Tupper Lake also has a number of pubs and taverns where you can enjoy a meal, or just a beer. Stop by P2’s Irish Pub, which features a selection of local beers on tap and a classic pub menu with Irish twists, or head out of town for a home-cooked meal at the Thirsty Moose Pub and Grub.

Need to work up a thirst first? There are tons of outdoor activities to enjoy before you start your tour. And remember, always drink responsibly! Plan ahead and book a nearby stay so you don’t need to worry about driving until the next day. Wherever you go, you’ll be delighted to discover just how brew-tiful Tupper Lake is!
