The Adirondack Sky Center & Observatory is excited to announce that we are welcoming visitors back to the Roll Off Roof Observatory during the summer of 2021 for public events.

The recently revised Free Public Night Observing Program builds on the best of our past practices and talents, while injecting new technology in order to create a series of thematic activities which culminate in a complete experience for our visitors on a single night.

Visitors will be led through a series of four stations. Each station will provide detailed information, laser guided tour, as well as a telescope view of the best objects in the sky. Dim red LED lights will be placed on the ground to mark the pathways to follow.

The Free Public Night Observing Programs will no longer be limited to clear Friday nights alone. Now look for these programs on other clear nights the Roll Off Roof Observatory, astronomers, and volunteers are available. Programs will start when the sky is dark enough to view objects in the sky, specific start times will be published on our website, facebook or calling the office at (518) 359-3538.

Guests are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets for the opening portion of the program as well as the laser guided tour of the night sky.
