The Tupper Arts Center at 106 Park Street in Tupper Lake officially opened its doors during the summer of 2018. As we approach the center's first birthday, we are delighted with all we've accomplished and the support we've received during this exciting first year, and we are thrilled to announce a full and impressive lineup of events for summer 2019!

Summer Sunset Series

Our wildly popular Summer Sunset Series continues this year at 7 p.m. every Tuesday at the bandshell in Flanders Park. We open the season on July 3 with music by Ben and Jay and Ian and continue throughout the summer with performances by Annie and the Hedonists, Woods Tea Co., Shakespeare in the Park, Moment's Notice, Jim and E, Phil Henry and the News Feed, High Peaks Opera, and Amber in Green. There's something for everyone in Tupper Lake's beautiful new outdoor venue overlooking Raquette Pond and the mountains.

Little Loggers Friday Performances

A new addition to this summer's activities is our Little Loggers Friday Performances for kids of all ages also at the Flanders Park bandshell at 10:30 a.m. each Friday morning. Performances include Magic Mike Cole with Martin Rabbit, an African drum and dance circle, the Snow Queen puppet show, Jumpin' Jamie, making music and musical instruments with Judy Stock, and fun and music with Evan Gottfried.

Children's Day Camps

There will be plenty more for the children this summer including several arts camps. From July 8-16 the Tupper Arts Center will be home to rehearsals for the Kids' Theater Camp production of Cap'n Hook, a comical play about Cap'n Hook and his cronies now in an old folks' home. You are sure to be entertained at the bandshell on July 19 at 10:30 a.m. as the children present their final performance. Jr. Jacks Open Mic Camp will take over the art center from August 5-9. Children will work on voice lessons with Karin Ryan, presenting their final performance on August 9 at the Flanders bandshell.

Dance has been wildly popular with our young people this past year. To continue with this interest, the Dance Sanctuary will be conducting a Pirates and Princesses Dance Camp and a Summer Jam Hip Hop Camp at two different times this summer. First is July 15-17 and second is July 22-24.

Gallery exhibits

In the gallery area we now have the Woodcrafters' Fair displayed through July 14. Everything from bedroom furniture to bowls and spoons may be viewed for free during regular hours. We are eager to show what talented people we have here!

As the Woodcrafters' Fair winds down, we will begin readying the Mountain Madness Quilt Show and Camp scheduled for August 1-3. Over a hundred beautifully made quilts will be lovingly displayed for your viewing pleasure in our gallery. Daily classes and demonstrations will also be held.

August 14 begins our 45th annual art show, the crowning glory of our summer. The show will begin with our opening gala August 14 and will run through September 8. Many different art forms will be displayed and for sale. We anticipate being wowed again this year!

Phew! The list is exhausting and I haven't yet mentioned water painting with Newt, yoga, chakra dance, sound healing, painting with Wilson Bickford, and our first ever Plein Air Festival in October! You'll just have to check out our website tupperarts.org for an entire listing of our exhibits, classes, and performances! Tupper Lake will be busy and vibrant this summer with something to do for all ages and interests. The Tupper Arts Center is thrilled to be part of the excitement!
